Its boundaries encompass the borough of Stonington and the villages of Pawcatuck, Lords Point, and Wequetequock, as well as the eastern portions of Mystic and Old Mystic. Stonington’s history dates back to 1649 when Thomas Stanton and William Chesebrough were granted land in the area, leading to the town’s settlement. In 1662, the first colonial charter resolved disputes over its state affiliation, securing Stonington’s place within Connecticut. By 1666, Mystic became part of the town, establishing the borders we know today, stretching from the sea to the Pawcatuck River.
