Move over hardwood floors! Engineered flooring has taken over as the number one flooring choice as homeowners continue to seek out practical alternatives to more expensive products.
Now hold on and stay with me here. If the word vinyl brings back memories of your grandmothers linoleum kitchen floor, you’re not alone. Not to worry though; today’s LVP flooring has come a loooooong way!
Engineered flooring including wood, laminate, and vinyl continue to improve with a number of beneficial characteristics that can’t be replicated in natural wood products. We are seeing a rise in the Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring (LVP) locally which is understandable given the many advantages over its hardwood counterpart.
Let’s talk about the advantages of LVP flooring over hardwood.
Waterproof
As a mom of four and massive clean-freak, this makes my day and truthfully is the main reason that we love LVP!
LVP flooring is waterproof, making it a great choice for any room. I love it because I can Bissell frequently without fear of ruining my floors. In addition to many feet running through our home on a daily basis, we have two puppies and a cat making LVP the clear choice when making decisions about flooring in our home.
Also, full disclosure; I am not a fan of tile. I love the fact that this flooring can be used in the kitchen, laundry room, mudroom, and bathrooms! Another bonus; because of that, we run the floors seamlessly throughout the home with no transitions. This makes for a cleaner look and even makes the house appear bigger.
Durability
Vinyl plank flooring is made to be lived on which speaks to me. We had stunning brazilian cherry hardwood floors in our last home and while it was beautiful, I was constantly managing foot traffic. Who has time for that?
The beauty of LVP is that it doesn’t scratch, indent or stain easily, which makes it kid and pet-friendly.
Be still my heart!
Installation
LVP flooring is installed as a floating floor, snapping the planks together. This is much easier than hardwood flooring!
Cost
LVP flooring is a more affordable alternative to hardwood and the upkeep is minimal.
Color
There are a variety of beautiful color choices suitable for any aesthetic. From cherry to oak and even exotic cedars with many styles mimicking the look of hardwood with none of the hassles.
With so many choices, you will be able to find a luxury vinyl plank style to suit your budget, decor, and lifestyle. The only problem you may have is choosing your favorite!
