Always at the forefront of residential design innovation, we keep a close pulse on emerging trends from the most trusted industry leaders, including Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, Forbes, and renowned designer Kelly Wearstler. We’re excited to share the 2025 interior design movements shaping the future of luxury home living. These trends emphasize comfort, sustainability, and self-expression—offering you fresh inspiration as you dream up your ideal space.
1. At-Home Wellness Spaces
Creating dedicated areas for relaxation and self-care is a top priority in 2025. At Caulkins Homes, we’ve incorporated features like custom saunas, luxurious wet rooms, and serene meditation alcoves in several of our recent builds. Clients increasingly desire spa-like bathrooms, and spaces for physical and mental restoration.
This wellness-forward mindset ensures your home supports both your lifestyle and long-term wellbeing.
2. Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Design
Sustainability continues to be a leading design priority. Our team has embraced this in stunning ways—like repurposing family antiques into custom vanities or integrating reclaimed barn wood as flooring and fireplace mantels in local homes ranging from sophisticated modern farmhouses to tranquil wooded retreats.
Using vintage furnishings, salvaged materials, and natural textiles not only reduces environmental impact—it adds one-of-a-kind charm and authenticity to your space.
“Purchasing vintage or antique items is a beautiful way to support eco-conscious living,” notes Andrea Lackie. — The Spruce
3. Warm Minimalism & Curved Furnishings
2025 is the year of the ‘warm minimalist’ trend, which blends simplicity with softness. This design philosophy is reflected in many of our recent home designs, where arched openings are favored over traditional cased ones. This subtle yet impactful shift adds elegance, creates a sense of openness, and softens harsh lines—resulting in spaces that feel more welcoming and seamlessly connected.
Clean lines are paired with rich textures and organic shapes—like the sculptural furniture seen in Anne Hathaway’s NYC home. Curved sofas, arched entryways, and natural finishes invite calm, comfort, and understated elegance.
“It’s about creating spaces that are both structured and soul-soothing,” says Homes & Gardens.
4. Bold Use of Color and Pattern
Say goodbye to stark neutrals—2025 is bursting with vibrant expression! The dramatic color-drenching trend is hot among our clients, where bold hues coat walls, trim, and even ceilings for an immersive cocoon effect. This technique involves using two shades of the same color to envelop a room, enhancing its depth and character.
This year, deep greens, aubergines, ochres, and jewel tones are taking center stage in both traditional and contemporary homes. We haven’t seen this much jewel tone since 2018!
5. Integration of Vintage and Modern Lighting
As you can imagine, we’re all about the details—and lighting is one of the most critical elements in a custom home. Having traveled extensively and stayed in many beautifully designed homes, Craig and I have seen firsthand how poor lighting can disrupt an otherwise well-designed space.
Lighting sets the mood and function of a room, and in 2025, blending vintage charm with contemporary flair is front and center. Think sleek modern pendants paired with brass sconces or hand-blown glass fixtures offering a retro twist.
This mix of eras adds both personality and timelessness—an approach we love incorporating in kitchens, dining rooms, and entryways to create layered, inviting spaces that feel warm and curated.
6. Textured Walls and Ceilings
Wallpapers, plaster finishes, and wood paneling are making a bold return—and we couldn’t be more thrilled. I fondly remember flipping through wallpaper books with my mother in the late 1980s, captivated by the endless possibilities of transforming spaces with pattern and personality.
Today, I’m so pleased to see wallpaper making such a strong comeback. At Caulkins Homes, we especially love incorporating wallpaper in powder rooms and angled ceilings, where an accent wall or overhead application adds unexpected charm and depth. These layered details bring warmth, dimension, and a touch of surprise to any space.
“Texture makes a room come alive—without overwhelming it,” shares Real Simple.
7. Embracing Earthy Tones
Earth tones evoke a sense of calm and connection to the nature, and can be used in various interior design styles, from rustic to modern. Earthy tones like olive green, terracotta, and rust continue to trend—bringing warmth and a grounded, organic feel to interiors. These natural colors work beautifully with stone, wood, linen, and greenery, blending modern comfort with rustic charm.
“These shades make a home feel both stylish and deeply homey,” notes the New York Post.
